Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance

Colossians 3:12 · Humility
Reflection 1

Getting ready in the morning is a routine we all share. We check the weather, pick out our clothes, and get dressed for whatever the day holds. But long before we decide what shirt or shoes to wear, we have an invisible, spiritual wardrobe to put on. We are invited to purposely clothe ourselves with attitudes that build others up and reflect Jesus.

Reflection 2

This means compassion and humility aren't just spontaneous feelings; they are deliberate daily choices. When a coworker makes a frustrating mistake, you can choose to put on patience instead of snapping. When your family member is having a rough day, you can wrap yourself in kindness rather than reacting in defensiveness. It takes intentional effort to wear these traits, especially when life gets messy or stressful.

Reflection 3

It becomes much easier to choose this kind of humility when we remember who we are in God's eyes. You are deeply loved, hand-picked, and cherished by your Creator. When you operate from a secure place of being fully loved by God, you do not have to prove your worth by being right or having the last word. You can afford to be gentle, patient, and humble with the people around you today.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me completely and calling me Your own. Help me to intentionally put on compassion, patience, and humility as I go about my day. Let my reactions and words reflect Your gentle heart to everyone I interact with today. Amen.
