It’s easy to praise God when life is going exactly how we planned. But we are called to something much deeper—a sacrifice of praise. A sacrifice usually costs us something, and in this case, it might cost us our pride, our habit of complaining, or our right to stay stuck in a bad mood.

Through him, then, let’s offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which proclaim allegiance to his name.
Think about your current circumstances right now. Are you facing a frustrating day at work, a draining mountain of chores, or a truly difficult season of waiting? This is exactly where your praise is most powerful. When you choose to speak well of God in the middle of a mess, you are offering a beautiful, costly gift.
To make this practical today, try paying close attention to the words you speak. When you feel the urge to grumble about the traffic or stress over a problem, pause and find one true thing about God to say out loud. You don't have to pretend everything is perfect, but you can always acknowledge that God is good, faithful, and right there with you.
Dear Lord, help me to choose praise today, even when it feels difficult or heavy. Let my words reflect your goodness, no matter what I am facing in my circumstances. Thank you for always being worthy of my trust and my worship. Amen.
