Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Matthew 6:13 · Deliverance
Reflection 1

We often think of temptation as some dramatic, life-altering crossroads. But most of the time, it looks entirely ordinary. It is the sudden urge to snap at a family member when we are tired, the pull to join in on office gossip, or the quiet choice to hide a small mistake.

Reflection 2

Jesus knew our human willpower would eventually run out. That is why He taught us to ask God for a detour around the traps we cannot see coming. When we regularly pray for God's protection, we are simply admitting that we are not strong enough to navigate every emotional or moral pothole on our own.

Reflection 3

Try making this a daily habit before your feet even hit the bedroom floor. Ask God to actively steer you away from situations that will test your patience or integrity. And when you do find yourself in a tough spot today, remember that His deliverance often looks like a quiet exit door—a sudden change of subject, a deep breath, or the simple decision to walk away.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for knowing my weaknesses and loving me anyway. Please steer me away from the daily traps and gentle compromises that threaten to trip me up today. When I do find myself in over my head, please be my quick escape and my safe place. Amen.
